Since 2007, the Centre for Applied Social Sciences (CASS) at the University of Tartu has been a trusted partner for those who value evidence-based, well-considered, and forward-looking decision-making.
CASS' mission is to increase the role of evidence-based decision-making in Estonian society.
Our aim is to bring high-level applied research and social science analytics closer to the real needs of society, both in Estonia and internationally. We support and develop decision-making processes across a wide range of fields, from policy and legislative design to education, economy and healthcare, environmental protection, and regional planning.
We work in close cooperation with research institutions as well as private and public sector experts, carrying out applied research, developing educational projects, and contributing more broadly to societal development.
Our projects are aimed at supporting public and private sector activities in Estonia, and we have also participated in and led projects funded, among others, by Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, LIFE, EU Justice, Erasmus+, and Interreg.
Our diverse and experienced team covers the entire research and development process: project managers, analysts, trainers, impact evaluators, stakeholder engagement specialists, agents of social change, and communication specialists work together to ensure that each project is matched with the most appropriate expertise.
Our studies are published in the RAKE Research Series (ISSN 2382-6703).
At the University of Tartu, CASS operates under the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies.
